Our team recently completed the installation of 23 new certified timber fire door sets at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Margate, Kent. This project was designed to enhance the school’s fire safety standards while meeting accessibility and operational requirements.

To ensure minimal disruption to students and staff, the works were carefully phased over two school holiday periods, allowing our staff to complete the installation safely and efficiently.

Project Challenges & Solutions

One of the key challenges involved reconfiguring door opening directions to comply with the school’s updated fire evacuation plan. Our team assessed each location and adapted the installations to maintain full compliance with fire safety regulations.

We also supplied and fitted maglocks and fire door hold-open devices, ensuring the new doors provide both maximum fire protection and easy access throughout the building – essential for the needs of an SEN environment.

Outcome

The project was delivered on time and in full compliance with all relevant fire door certification. The school now benefits from a bespoke fire door solution that improves safety, accessibility, and peace of mind for staff, students, and visitors alike.
